Privacy Policy

      Short version: Poliscope does not collect, store, or sell your personal data.
      Your browsing activity stays on your device. Only the text of a privacy policy you choose to
      analyze is sent to our server — and it is never stored.
    

1. What Poliscope Does

Poliscope is a Chrome browser extension and web application that helps you understand website privacy policies using AI, and protects you from trackers, cookie banners, and browser fingerprinting while you browse.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

Your browsing history or visited URLs
Your name, email address, or any account information
Your IP address (not logged or stored)
Form inputs or passwords
Device identifiers or location data
Any analytics, crash reports, or usage telemetry

3. What Happens When You Analyze a Policy

When you click "Analyze Privacy Policy," the extension fetches the text of that website's privacy policy and sends it to our backend server for AI analysis. Specifically:

Only the privacy policy text is transmitted — not your identity or any personal information
The text is processed in real-time and never stored on our servers
Analysis results are returned directly to your browser and not retained anywhere

4. Third-Party AI Processing

Privacy policy text is analyzed using Groq's LLaMA AI API. Groq processes the text to generate the analysis. Please refer to Groq's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data sent to their API.

5. Local-Only Features

The following features operate entirely on your device and send no data anywhere:

Tracker blocking — uses Chrome's built-in engine with local rule files
Cookie banner rejection — DOM manipulation only, no data transmitted
Form field scanning — runs locally in the page, no data collected
Fingerprint protection — local script injection, no data sent
GPC / DNT signals — browser-level headers, no server involved
YouTube ad blocking — local observer, no data transmitted

6. Extension Storage

Poliscope stores your extension preferences (e.g. whether tracker blocking is on or off) locally in Chrome's storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device.

7. No Accounts Required

Poliscope requires no sign-up, login, or account of any kind. There is no user database.

8. Children's Privacy

Poliscope does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The extension contains no features directed at children.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Poliscope after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
